Yes, Mormons believe in hell, but not quite in the same way that mainstream Christianity believe.
They believe that hell is a place where those who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior will be sent. Those in hell will suffer for their own sins and will not be able to progress or learn. Hell is seen as a temporary place of punishment until Judgment Day.
Mormons also believe in the idea of eternal progression. This means that even after we die, we have the opportunity to continue to learn and grow. So, while those in hell will not be able to progress, those in heaven will be able to continue learning and becoming more like God.
The idea of eternal progression is one of the main reasons why Mormons put such an emphasis on missionary work. They believe that it is our responsibility to share the gospel with others so that they can have the opportunity to accept Jesus Christ and progress eternally.
Do Mormons Believe In The Lake Of Fire?
Mormons do not specifically believe in the “lake of fire” as it is described in the Bible. They do, however, believe in a place called the “outer darkness.” This is where those who have committed serious sins will be sent after they die. It is a place where there will be “weeping, and wailing, and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 8:12).
So, while Mormons do not believe in the traditional concept of Hell, they do believe in a place of punishment for those who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. Those who have committed serious sins will also be sent to a place of suffering after death.
